What is SharePoint / Office Dev Patterns & Practices (PnP)?

PnP is community driven open source initiative where and external community members are sharing their learning's around implementation practices for and . Active and contributions happen our GitHub projects under 'dev' branch and each month there will be a master merge (monthly release) with more comprehensive testing and communications. PnP is owned and coordinated by SharePoint engineering, but this is work done by the community for the community. Property Management Code Sample Updates Ship!

We are happy to announce we have shipped another update to the Property Management Code Sample in the OfficeDev repository on We’ve had a lot of success with previous versions of this code sample and it is one of the most downloaded samples we have.  The Property Management Code Sample demonstrates how to create a line of business system with and mobile technologies. The code sample includes a web application built on ASP.NET MVC5, mobile applications built with iOS, Android, Xamarin, and Cordova, and an Add-in for Outlook built with ASP.NET MVC 5. The Property Manager web application demonstrates many different patterns used in real world scenarios. At a high level, the Property Manager web application does the following things.

  • Provisions the Site Collection used by the Property Management web and mobile applications

Common Data Model connects to a number of technologies

Microsoft Common Data Model preview available for PowerApps, Flow, Power BI, Excel, & More

has released the Microsoft Common Data Model (CDM) for , , , and  "an out-of-box business database for storing and managing business entities." The CDM is intended to be used as a business database and has full support for flows in , rich control support within PowerApps, easy chema definition support for non-developers, full Excel integration for both viewing & editing data, and bulk data import & export capabilities. The CDM can provide access to standard entities and also allow developers to build custom entities as well.
